Together with Heritage Abbotsford Society, the Fraser Valley Metis Association has worked to restore historic infrastructure for adaptive reuse as facilities that both FVMA and HAS can use as programming space in the future.
Alben Hawkins’ diaries from the 1800s describe how the home was constructed by a variety of individuals including Indigenous men. The Indigenous communities have a deep history here and it is our intention to keep that history going by hosting skills transmission events here, together, into the future.
We are excited to share an opportunity to support this initiative by voting for Turner House.
