Exciting News: Board of Directors Candidates
We’re delighted to share that several dedicated individuals have put their names forward to run for the positions on the Board of Directors of the Fraser Valley Métis Association. Their willingness to serve our community is deeply appreciated.
While we’re pleased to introduce these candidates, we also want to warmly remind everyone that nominations from the floor will still be accepted at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), in accordance with our bylaws.
We believe this open process allows for a diverse range of voices to be heard, regardless of public speaking ability or availability on the day of the AGM. It also gives our citizens time to thoughtfully connect with and consider each candidate.
We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to seeing you at the AGM!

Tracey Good
Position Sought
President
Bio
My name is Tracey Good, and I’m running to be the next President of the FVMA. I bring experience, heart, and a deep commitment to our people. As Interim Director at Large, I’ve had the honour of listening, learning, and walking alongside community members during a time of change and reflection. I believe FVMA needs steady, compassionate leadership to help heal, reconnect, and rebuild trust. Together, we can move forward.
My Métis roots go back to the Red River Valley in the late 1700s. Though I didn’t grow up naming it “Métis,” our way of life, community socials, music, food, and kinship, was rooted in culture. Reclaiming that identity has been a journey of reconnection, one I’ve embraced with humility and pride.
I am a mother, grandmother, and long-time public servant. From my work as a Community Integration Specialist in Abbotsford to years in the Navy, corrections, and foster care, I’ve learned that leadership means showing up with integrity, listening well, and lifting others up.
The FVMA is rich with potential. I want to help shape a future where our community is strong in identity, culture, and accountability. No one should have to search for belonging when it can be found right here.
With respect and hope,
Tracey Good

Ashley Sharpe
Position Sought
President
Bio
Taanishi, my name is Ashley Sharpe. I am Métis on my father’s side, with family roots in the Red River where he was born. I was raised in Mission and now live in Abbotsford, where I am completing my Bachelor of Social Work degree at UFV. I currently work as a Youth Mentor with Archway Community Services, and my future goals are to become a registered clinical counsellor and community social worker.
From 2017–2021, I served as FVMA’s Social Media Director. During that time, I dedicated much of my energy to supporting our monthly potlucks, holiday gatherings, kids camps, and community events. It was inspiring to see our community come together, grow stronger, and support one another.
In recent years, our association has faced challenges that have left many members feeling discouraged and disconnected. I share in that concern, and it is what has motivated me to run for President at the upcoming AGM on September 13, 2025.
If elected, my commitment is to foster cooperation, transparency, and accountability within FVMA. I believe our members deserve to be informed and involved, and that all voices in our community carry value. My vision is for FVMA to be a place where no one feels alienated, where differences can be resolved with respect, and where our shared purpose guides us forward.
It would be an honour to serve as your President, and I will dedicate myself to building a stronger, more connected FVMA—one that reflects the pride and potential of our people.
Sincerely, Ash.

Cory Therrien

Director at Large
Bio
Hi, my name is Cory Therrien. I’m a local business owner in the Abbotsford area. I’ve been a member of the Fraser Valley Métis association for the past two years. I’ve also was a member of the Manitoba Metis Federation From the mid-1970s. As many of you know I’m very passionate about my local. Part of my family’s past is my uncle Ernie Blais went to the Supreme Court of Canada. To fight for right to harvest and hunt. I would like to be a part of this board to stand up and be there for Fraser Valley Metis associations rights and help represent my community in a positive way. I’m only running for Director at large as my business and family life limit my time. But with that being said, if I am needed in my community, I will make time to be there to support and help make decisions that are needed. Thank you for considering me for the board.
