Urban Indigenous Indoor Gardening with FVMA

Urban Indigenous have minimal to no access and exposure to natural environments and Kokedamas are a way of bringing natural elements into living environments.

Kokedama literally translates from the Japanese “koke” meaning moss and “dama” meaning ball. Kokedamas are a form of Japanese garden art that is centuries old and tied into the practice of bonsai and this mimicking nature is a wonderful way to bring the natural world closer to us in our daily lives.

Fraser Valley Metis Association’s Womens Circle recently enjoyed creating  their own Kokedamas and here is how some of them turned out…

We tried the Deadman Creek Bannock and it fried up fast and tasty. It is soooooo

Good! We enjoyed it with cranberry jelly. Yum! We didn’t have any nettle tea though.

Thank you for your hospitality. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. If we ever return to Abbotsford, we will look you up. Thank you very much.

We will be using this recipe for the 50th Wedding Anniversary
