FVMA Healing Circle
Taansi FVMA community members,
We hope this message finds you in Miyomahcihowin (good health). As you may know, a new board has been elected to lead the Fraser Valley Métis Association (FVMA). Since our election, we’ve been focused on finding ways to bring our community back together. The past few years have been difficult, marked by lateral violence, division, anger, and hurt. We want to move forward from this dark time and begin a new chapter together, in a good way.
To support this healing journey, we’ve organized a community healing circle facilitated by Dr.Francis Horne and his wife Debra from Len Pierre Consulting. They have worked with many local First Nations communities, as well as with Fraser Health and Corrections Canada, and bring a wealth of knowledge and compassion to this important work.
We know that healing begins when each of us feels heard and when we are ready to listen, too. Our people are strong and resilient, having endured many hardships through the generations, and we have always found strength in our community.
Please join us on November 1st from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. at MRC. We’ll begin with a potluck-style lunch, followed by a smudge and the start of our circle at 2:00 p.m.
All community members are welcome. This is a new chapter for FVMA—come share food, connection, and good medicine as we move forward together in the spirit of healing.
Maarsi,
FVMA Board of Directors
