We want to address the recent MNBC Senate correspondence shared within our community.

This matter will be discussed during FVMA’s Annual General Meeting on December 15, 2024. We encourage all members to participate. For details and registration, visit [AGM Link].

November 9, 2024: Culturally Based Trauma Counselling at Emma’s Acres with Elder Russell Point

Beginning November 18th, 2024 FVMA’s community partner L.I.N.C. (Long-term Inmates Now in the Community) Society is pleased to announce that Elder Russell Point will be offering culturally based trauma counselling for First Nations, Metis and Inuit people at Emma’s Acres – L.I.N.C. Society’s agricultural social enterprise located at 34890 Cemetery Avenue, Mission, B.C. V2V 6Y6.

A citizen of the Sto-lo Nation, Russell Point worked with the Correctional Service of Canada Pacific Region as an Elder for 25 years. He is an Elder with QWÍ:QWÉLSTÓM: the justice-social healing house for the Stó:lō Nation.

HOW TO ACCESS

First Nations, Metis and Inuit People inside prison or on conditional release in the community can sign up for the counselling with the Elder through the L.I.N.C. office at 604-852-5514 or seflett@telus.net

The counselling sessions which are free of charge, and need to be scheduled in advance.

The days will be Mondays and Thursdays beginning November 18th, 2024.

Funding is provided by the Correctional Service of Canada.

We’re thrilled to announce that FVMA’s Matriarch Circle will be returning on November 19th!

With bi-monthly gatherings on the first and third Tuesday of each month between 6 and 8 pm, this circle is a space to connect, share, and celebrate together, thanks to the commitment and hard work of our dedicated community volunteers, partners and sponsors.
