FVMA Announces Removal of President

Posted by FVMA

Public Announcement

The Fraser Valley Métis Association (FVMA) wishes to inform our members and community that the Interim Board has made the decision to suspend and remove our Interim President, Katie Aldred on September 3, 2025 due to neglect of duties.

This step was not taken lightly. It reflects ongoing concerns with the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role and the need to ensure the FVMA continues to operate effectively and transparently.

Additionally we would like the community to know that on August 28, 2025 we received an official letter of resignation from Alexis Wells, our Interim Secretary.

The Interim Board remains committed to accountability, good governance, and serving the needs of our members. We appreciate the understanding and support of our community as we move forward together.

Important Update Regarding Financial Review

Tansii FVMA Citizens,

We’re pleased to share an important update many in our community have been waiting for: the long-anticipated financial review has been completed by our Interim Treasurer, Jeff MacDonald.

This report responds to questions and concerns raised over the past year. We recognize that these concerns have caused tension, and we sincerely thank everyone for their patience as we worked towards greater clarity and transparency.

We also want to express our deep appreciation to Jeff. This was not an easy task, it required time, care and commitment, and we’re truly grateful for his hard work on behalf of our community.

Alongside this, we’re also sharing a report provided by MNBC, which includes additional information many of you have been asking about online. We hope that, together, these documents will help answer longstanding questions and support a clearer path forward.

We encourage all members to read through the materials carefully before the upcoming AGM. Please note that some of the concerns raised in the MNBC report are addressed in the FVMA report. Our hope is that by taking time to reflect in advance, we can come together in a spirit of respect, understanding, and thoughtful dialogue.

Thank you for your continued engagement and care for our Métis community.

With respect,

Fraser Valley Métis Association – Interim Board of Directors
